The research facility has 15 laboratories. In addition to these laboratories, there is a laboratory that was created by BP / Statoil.

In total, the institute employs about 150 employees, of whom 2 are academicians, 30 are Doctors of Science, 60 PhDs. There are 30 PhD students and 10 PhDs studying Doctor of Science in our doctoral school.

At the scientific research institute, there is a Council for the defense of doctoral school students in three specialties, approved by the Higher Attestation Commission of the USSR, the current Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan:

        1. Development and operation of oil fields.

        2. Drilling wells.

        3. Machines, units and processes.

The SRI prepares, discusses and defends dissertations of doctoral school students from all divisions of the oil and gas industry: various scientific, design, and educational institutes, as well as from oil and gas production enterprises, oil refineries, etc. Among them, a considerable number are applicants from various foreign countries.

The research activities of the research institute are widely used in the processes of advanced training courses in various countries around the world.
